The time for MACUFE is now!!!

It is that time of the year where Festival lovers will be flocking to Bloemfontein, the city will be hosting the 20th MACUFE festival. The Mangaung African Cultural Festival is a nine-day event showcasing the best African and international talent. In 2016 the concert aims to be the biggest, most culturally diverse display of African Arts and Culture in the world.The much anticipated event will be taking place from the 30th of September till the 9th of October at various locations around the city of roses. 



In its 19th year of existence the Mangaung African Cultural Festival (MACUFE) is certainly coming of age. As in previous editions MACUFE promises to dazzle its patrons with an action packed and entertainment galore programme. Still guided by its pay-off-line, “When your Heart and Soul is African”, the 2016 MACUFE edition will be rolled out from the 30th September – 9 October 2016. On the international front international artists of note will continue to feature as part of the programme. For the 2016 edition music lovers can expect to be enthralled by the likes of Tamia (USA), Dave Koz (USA) and Sierra Maestra (Cuba).

True to its name and pay-off-line the festival will continue to feature artists from across the African continent. Hailing from Nigeria is Flavour and Kunle who promise to lift up our African spirits with their deep-rooted African sounds. These African music maestros from our sister countries on our continent will be complimented with the equally African voices from our own country. The elegant African sounds of Victor Kgantlape, Mafikizolo, Tshepo Tshola, Letta Mbulu, Caiphus Semenya, Unathi, The Soil and many others will feature prominently during the festival.

Back by popular demand for the nourishment and revival of the spirit are Sfiso Ncwane, Benjamin Dube, Teboho, Umsingizane, Thoko, Sechaba who will be joined by other gospel artists during the MACUFE Gospel show.

Again, the MACUFE patrons are assured of the high level security arrangement at all events of MACUFE. It nonetheless remains the primary responsibility of each patron to ensure personal security at all material times. MACUFE to be the biggest, most culturally balanced showcase of African Arts and Culture in the world.

The Mangaung African Cultural Festival (MACUFE) was launched by the Free State Provincial Government in 1997.

Since its launch MACUFE became one of the biggest cultural festival on the African continent with international acclaim.
Over the years the festival has grown in leaps and bounds experiencing glitches here and there.

To tell us more about this event we are joined by Advocate Tshwarelo Malakoane from the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, he is accompanied by veteran gospel singer Deborah Fraser and Vusi Nova, they will be performing at the festival

                                Celtic promotes players to senior team 

After being thoroughly assessed by Bloemfontein Celtic technical team Sipho Chaine (goalkeeper) Matshego Nyapoli (right back), Keabetswe Mabe (Left back) and Kobedi Kobedi (midfielder) have all been promoted to the first team signing five year deals.

The young lads have been part of the pre-season and subsequently impressed with their maturity and the ability to compete at the higher level. In addition Siwelele has also signed 2014 Nedbank Keyona dream team striker Sydney Masana who was in the books of Mthatha Bucks.
Announcing their signing an obviously elated COO Chabeli Motsamai said “Our development structure has been one of the best in the country looking at the number of players we have natured and clearly giving youngsters the opportunity to perform at the higher level symbolizes our seriousness as a brand to build for the future. In addition, both Chaine and Nyapoli come from Bloemfontein and it makes us happy to see local boys working hard to earn contracts with our senior team. 

With these type of talented players, the future looks bright and their promotion has encouraged their peers to even work harder” he concluded.
